Sharing Your GP Record with Other NHS Services
We may ask for your permission to share your GP record with other NHS organisations involved in your care, such as hospitals, community services, NHS 111, or urgent and emergency care teams.
What information is shared?
If you agree, authorised NHS healthcare professionals may be able to view relevant information from your GP record, which can include:
- Your medicines and allergies
- Test results and immunisations
- Long‑term conditions
- Recent consultations and care plans
Only information needed to support your care is shared.
Why record sharing is helpful
Sharing your GP record helps NHS staff to:
- Make safer, better‑informed decisions about your care
- Avoid delays or duplicated tests
- Reduce the need for you to repeat the same information
- Provide quicker treatment, especially in urgent situations
How your information is kept safe
Your record is shared securely using NHS systems. It can only be accessed by authorised NHS staff who are directly involved in your care. All access is covered by strict confidentiality, data protection, and auditing rules.
Your information is not shared with non‑NHS organisations without your explicit permission.
Your choice
Sharing your GP record is your decision. You can:
- Agree to sharing
- Decline sharing
- Change your mind at any time
If you wish to update your preference or have any questions, please contact the practice and we will be happy to help.
